As the fall season begins, I sample Iced Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which are appearing throughout Jacksonville, Florida, to determine which drink may be best for you.
I ordered an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, Dunkin’, Bitty and Beau’s and Jacksonville Coffee Co. and judged according to taste, visuals, price and overall experience.
First, I visited Starbucks. I ordered a Venti, which is 24 ounces, and this cost $6.95. To me, this is somewhat expensive for a drink of this size. However, the drink was topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, adding an appealing look. It didn’t taste the best because it was too bitter, but at the same time, I felt like there was way too much sugar. I couldn’t even taste any pumpkin flavoring, and so, my overall rating is a 3/5.
Next, I went to Dunkin’ and ordered a 20-ounce drink, otherwise known as a medium, and this cost me $3.23, but the price varies at different locations. The 24-ounce version of this drink costs $3.88, which is still less than the prices of the other drinks. This drink is also topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, and it tasted good. The pumpkin spice flavoring is easily distinguishable, and it’s not too bitter or too sweet. In my opinion, it’s practically perfect, and my overall rating is a 4.5/5 for this one.
I went next to a coffee shop called Bitty and Beau’s. I ordered a 24-ounce drink, and the price was $7.85, but they gave it to me for a dollar less because they only took a credit card as a form of payment at the location I was at, and all I had was cash. Nevertheless, $6.85 is still a lot of money, but the kindness they showed made it worth the price. The drink looked like a regular iced coffee, but the taste made up for how it looked. The pumpkin flavor is delicious, and the drink wasn’t too sweet or bitter, but the spices like cinnamon for example made a greater appearance in this drink while still tasting good. So, my overall rating is a 4/5.
Finally, I ordered this drink from Jacksonville Coffee Co. I paid $6.85 for their biggest cup size, which is 20 ounces, but if it was 24 ounces, this drink would cost $8.22, which is a lot of money. The drink looked like a normal coffee but with a bit of cinnamon on the top. I enjoyed it, and there was a lot of pumpkin, but there was a lot of cinnamon, which definitely overpowered the pumpkin flavor. And so, my overall rating is 3.5/5.
In the end, my overall pick would be Dunkin’s iced pumpkin spice latte because of the price of this drink, but mainly, I would choose this drink because it tasted the best in my opinion.
