On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Interact Club hosted its annual Dance Marathon event, sponsored by the Children’s Miracle Network.
This event strives to raise money for the medical treatment of children, whether it be funding for further medical research or to pay for the needed equipment.
“We’re really impacting these kids’ lives and giving them another chance at life,” Dance Marathon board president Isabella Delasancha said.
Various events took place, from karaoke to Mario Kart tournaments, and even the annual morale dance.
“I really enjoyed the activities during Dance Marathon, especially when I got to play Mario Kart with friends,” junior Joshua Inocencio said.
They even had two children and their mothers tell their own stories of how Dance Marathon has made an impact on their lives.
Throughout the school year, Interact has done multiple other service activities, such as selling candy bars in October and making cookie grams in February. These events are some of the donations that go towards Dance Marathon.
Interact Club ended the night raising $33,067.93, the most out of any school in Jacksonville, according to Interact Club faculty sponsor Nicole Hurtt.
“I am proud of how much Interact has accomplished, specifically with Dance Marathon and the other service projects they do at the same time,” Hurtt said. “They do a lot of service opportunities…and then on top of it, they’re able to host one of the biggest Dance Marathons in Jacksonville itself, so that’s pretty cool.”
