Disney’s Aladdin Jr. play debuted on Wednesday, March 11 and continued on Thursday, March 12.

The main characters, Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, were played by freshman Jonah McIntire and senior Julie Sanam.

“Seeing everyone’s hard work come together on the stage, resulting in an exceptional performance is always going to be the highlight of the show for me,” Director Grace Tozy said.

Tozy has been the director of the Bishop Kenny Theater Department plays for the last two years, but she has been a part of theater for four years here at Bishop Kenny. She says she loves her role, and seeing her actors grow from rehearsal to when the show is being played.

Even though it was successful there were many hardships along the way, according to Tozy.

“The most difficult aspect of this production was working on the old stage for half of our rehearsal time,” Tozy said. “It was crowded, and we didn’t have our directions/blocking. We pulled through and made it work!”

Working on a smaller stage was tough, but it didn’t stop them from performing.

”I was very nervous and scared I was gonna mess up on my lines,” junior Sully Sims said. “But I got over it and performed really well.”

This is Sims’ first play, and he says he was anxious about the moment, but overcame it. He played the role of Prince Abdullah.

Though this concludes the performing arts for the school year, watch out for audition announcements next fall.
